Decent Lakers season wrapped up

Seasons over! Last home game for 2010. My bro and I have been talking for years about meeting up for a Lakers game but it’s been a logistical nightmare getting him down here from Fresno, till tonight when the stars aligned. Props to Melmo for the ticket hookups!

I’ll be honest; this is nothing more than an excuse to flash some serious bling. Glad to get that out of the way. Hey, a guy’s gotta rep his team, right? Besides, look at it. 14 diamonds for the 14 previous championships, 15-karat gold(???) to symbolize the 15th. All the players’ faces are engraved on their individual rings. And it looked even better in HD.

During tonight’s season opening win over the Clippers, MVP chants could be heard after Kobe’s first basket. Kobe will keep things moving this season, I have no doubt about that. I think the main goal though is to keep Andrew Bynum healthy so he can get into a groove and actually, you know, score some points. It’ll also be interesting to see how this whole Ron Artest experiment works out. Go Lakers!

New season, new Lakers?

Last NBA season; it’s in the history books. Literally. Been there for months. It’s taken me a while to even want to write about the Laker’s loss in the finals. We pretty much crashed and burned in the last game against Boston.

But that was then, and this is now and that means (from what little we’ve seen so far) a new and improved Lakers. Kobe got a gold medal, Bynum and Ariza are both looking healthy in training camp, Chris Mihm is back, and Phil Jackson shaved the goatee. Does this mean the dream rematch against Boston next year in the finals? Seeing as the season hasn’t even started yet, it’s probably a little early to tell. But a guy can dream, right?
