Last seen headed north

Arguably it was the hottest spring day in L.A. Melissa’s car was busted and was getting worked on by our friend on the far east-side of downtown. El Hood. She was moving back to Texas is 2 weeks and spirits were down. Out of the blue, she had the idea to go shooting. An iphone google map search showed the L.A. Gun Club relatively close by, so we decided to hit it up.
When the first iPhone came out, I was boycotting it. I refused to go to the Apple store and even look at it. I knew the second I got my hands on one, I’d have to buy it right there on the spot, and I really wasn’t in the mood to spend 600 bucks. I’m proud to say I held out for a whole week.

Finally a vacation. I haven’t taking any real time off from work in a while; about a year in fact. So much so that my rollover vacation days stopped accruing. That’s when you know you’ve got issues. So when my friend Dan told me it was high time I get my Oregon on, I blew the dust off my snowboard and got the hell out of SoCal.

So I check my Facebook profile a lot. I’ll admit it. I also spend a decent amount of time browsing Flickr and updating my Twitter status too. Don’t get me started on Youtube. So when I heard about this Inauguration Report Facebook app being developed that combines them all into one, I was intrigued to say the least.
I’m a big fan of simple and straight-forward, which this app delivers on. It pulls images from Flickr and Twitter updates tagged with Inaug09 all into one module. It also ties in with the Inauguration Report iPhone app, where any pictures taken with it will automatically be uploaded to the player. The icing on the cake is the live audio stream from NPR of the president’s address. It was put together by my peeps at Sapient Interactive, the same design agency that created that kick-ass touchscreen Coke machine at the Olympics and more recently CES.
I was reading some Twitter updates last night when when I came across one proclaiming “This Twitter Username For Sale”. At first I thought, “Okay, now it’s gone too far”, but after I’ve been thinking about it a bit more, it might not be too far off. Love it or hate it, Twitter is becoming a requisite in the online industry.
Don’t get me wrong: websites are not being overtaken by twitter updates; you can only squeeze 140 characters in each tweet, after all. But corporate sites can also be cumbersome and often not up-to-date. Even blogs require some effort to keep them current. More and more, if you want the latest info, twitter is filling that gap. So, go get your corporate twitter ID if you haven’t already! It’s free. Even if you don’t use it, just put in one tweet linking to the current account you use. Better safe than sorry.
Dude. Just when you thought USB storage couldn’t get any cooler. It did. What’s better than a 16 gig thumb drive? A 16 gig thumb drive with a 007 logo silk-screened on it, that’s what. My Bond thumb drive was on my porch when I got home from work today, and not a second too soon. My data totally wasn’t secure. Now it’s like I’ve got MI-5 watching guard 24-7 or something.
No, there isn’t military-grade AES hardware encryption like the Ironkey, or even Truecrypt, that open-source software security app. But it did come preloaded with extremely high-resolution promo shots from Quantum of Solace, along with a behind-the-scenes video. The way I see it, the thief will be so enamored by the 10 megabyte Daniel Craig head shots that he’ll forget to actually, you know, steal your data.

…so apparently he doesn’t like the other news stations either, I guess; but he makes a good point to not believe everything you see on the TV. Especially when one man single-handedly owns a vast majority of it.
Tired of Palin “dominating the news cycle” lately? Well here Keith Olbermann returns the favor by dominating Sarah Palin. Even she would enjoy watching this video, albeit with the volume on mute.
